Around Asbury Park

Asbury Park is definitely much more than a beach community. It has become a year-round destination and a hip and exciting cultural experience for people of all ages. The future looks bright, so better bring your shades!

Here is just a little taste of what Asbury Park has to offer….

Beaches

The ultra popular Asbury Park beach begins a few blocks north of historic Convention Hall and flows south to the equally historic “Casino and Carousel” bordering Ocean Grove. This beach is among the most popular beaches in the state and has become a destination for many. A vibrant boardwalk features plenty of shops and tasty food and the beach is monitored by lifeguards during normal hours. As a bonus, the North Beach at 8th Ave allows dogs to run off-leash, but supervised during specific hours. This is a must see! For more information on Asbury Park beaches

Nightlife

Asbury Park is home to an abundance of unique, fun, creative and top quality bars, restaurants and snack shops. Basically, just about whatever you are looking for, can be found somewhere in Asbury Park. This is so much more than just a “beach” community. In addition, Asbury Park is renowned for its music and arts scene (think Bruce Springsteen in addition to the music heritage of Springwood Ave!). In fact, the Boss got his start debuting his “Greetings from Asbury Park” album from the landmark venue The Stone Pony. There is no other city or town at the Jersey Shore that can come close to the variety of local artists, photographers and musicians that give Asbury Park its character and charm. Once you check it out, you will not be disappointed!

Dogs

Asbury Park loves dogs!! Many restaurants allow your dog to dine outside with the family and even provide a water bowl and sometimes a Doggie Menu! Walking through town or along the various parks with your dog is a trademark of Asbury Park and adds to the friendly feel, character and vibe of the city. For many people, the highlight for their dog is the Asbury Park Dog Beach Located just north of the Convention Hall, your favorite pet will have a great time on the beach and playing in the surf! If the beach just isn’t your dog’s thing, check out the Wonder Bar’s “Yappy Hour” and hang out with your dog while sipping a cool drink across the street from the beach! If you need a little assistance babysitting your dog for a few hours or longer, there is even a wonderful local business that will help: The Dawg Joint at 513 Bangs Ave.

Asbury Boardwalk

The Asbury Park Boardwalk is a favorite of just about everyone! There are too many fun things to list here, so check out this link In addition, Asbury Park is home to a one of a kind attraction. Readers of USA Choice voted Silverball Museum Arcade as the #1 top attraction in NJ. It’s also been ranked as #18 in the top 50 New Jersey Shore attractions. The museum arcade will bring you back to your childhood with its collection of 600 vintage games in rotation. The perfect combination of fun and nostalgia. Definitely a key part in adding to the history and charm of Asbury Park. In addition, local radio station 94.3 The Point broadcasts from the boardwalk every weekend. Walking the boardwalk allows you to take in the beautiful and historic Convention Hall, the adjoining Paramount Theatre and of course the Grand Arcade (Casino).
